On my way home from my interview today, I stopped to get a new toy for Willie. He would most like an edible toy, BUT, if he cannot eat it, the next criterion is the squeak. So, squeak Willie got and man is he happy!

After his morning nap, Willie and I went for a walk around the block. We stopped at the vet (Bramer) to say hello and get some treats, but made it back in time for Willie's afternoon snooze. He awoke for a split second when I sneezed, but otherwise he is puppy dreamland. This dog is my idol.

Jeff came home with presents for Willie yesterday- pigs' ear chew toys. He gave one to Willie and it was quite a hit. Thinking about this chew toys strange name and shape, I said, "Why do they call them pigs' ears?" You don't want to know the answer.

After a very informative training session with Sheryl from Positive Paws, we learned that the "kong" and the "moleculeball" are the latest trend in "independent play" dog toys. Both of these objects have hollowed out insides that are then filled with small pieces of treats. As the dog plays more and rolls the toys around, the small pieces of treats get sprinkled out. Obviously, with such positive reinforcement, the dog continues to play.

Paula & Larry visited Chicago recently and met Willie. Larry participated in the same job fair as Jeff and Paula got a break from wedding planning. While they had been talking about getting a dog, we think meeting Willie "sealed the deal." When they returned to Atlanta, they found their new furry friend, Napoleon Dynamite, a Pekinese/Poodle mix, also known as a Peek-a-Poo!!!

When we first met, we knew there may be some conflicts. Jeff is allergic to animals and I am in love with animals. At the time, I had two cats, James and Pong. As dating turned into a relationship, we knew we may have to make some changes. James & Pong went to live with my friend Andi when we got engaged and poor Jeff never heard the end of it!

I researched and researched and researched non-shedding, even hairless, animals and learned quite a bit. Jeff got tired of hearing about all of these dogs and when we met Willie, figured this was a good way to make me happy!

On July 16, 2005, Willie Nelson came home to live with us! Although Jeff still had a week of final exams, he too had fallen in love with this pooch. He is a poodle/bichon puppy who weighs in now at 5 lbs. and will probably be about 15 lbs. eventually.
